Sad News for SXSW

Sad day for one of computing’s biggest events. An intoxicated driver, who was running from police, crashed through barricades that were blocking off the streets at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas.

Participants watched people “bouncing” up into the air as the driver plowed into the crowd. He hit and killed 2 people who were riding a Mo-Ped, plus injured 23 more people, 5 of them critically.

Names of the driver and the victims have not yet been released, but the driver has been charged with 2 counts of capital murder, and 23 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle.
